Driving car at night

While driving at night, it seems quite difficult to determine distances and speed due to faint visibility. Because in darkness the eyes need extra efforts to adjust with the changing level of brightness and most of the driver’s reaction depends on vision as well. This is the reason behind the fact that night driving is more dangerous than driving during the day. So, while driving at night, you should follow some special guidelines that are described below:

If you want to decrease these after-dark dangers then at first you have to prepare your car for night driving. You should clean windows, headlights, taillights as well as signal lights of your car at least once a week, if necessary you can do it frequently as much as possible.

Target your headlights in a proper manner. I think keeping the headlights on low beam of lights is a good idea because it will surely help you to do not blind another driver ahead of you while you are following other vehicle. And you should not overdrive your headlights, otherwise you will surely create a blind crash area in front of your own vehicle.

At night naturally we get tired due to the work pressure over the day. So fatigue can be also added to the danger caused by night driving. Drowsiness can deviate your concentration and slow the reaction time.

Alcohol is one of the most significant factors that happen most of the fatal traffic crashes. It plays an important role in maximum motor vehicle-related deaths. And it makes the weekend nights more vulnerable than any other day in a week. So you should obviously avoid excessive drinking and even, if possible, do not take just one drink while driving at night.

You should also avoid smoking while driving at night because smoke produces nicotine and carbon monoxide which can shackle night vision.

As it is quite difficult to judge the speed of other vehicles, you have to reduce your speed and increase the distances that you need to follow.

You should make frequent stops as many times as possible for exercise and light snacks as well. And lastly, if you get too tired to drive then stop and you should take rest.
